Governor funds Teen Court program
PRATTVILLE
8/6/2003

Gov. Bob Riley has awarded $31,403 to continue an Autauga County program aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency.

The grant, made available through the U.S. Department of Justice, will be given to the Autauga County Commission to continue the Teen Court program, in which nonviolent juvenile offenders are given sanctions by other teenagers and offered counseling and educational services.

The community-based intervention program also provides life-skills training and increases awareness of the legal system among teen offenders and student volunteers. It also provides the county and victims with a swift response to juvenile misdemeanors.
