Marshals search for escaped inmate

Authorities are looking for an escaped inmate who has close ties in the Prichard area and used to live in Mobile, the U.S. Marshals office in Mobile said today.

Robert Demetrius Jackson, 30, walked away from the Alabama Department of Corrections, Mobile Work Release Center Jan. 7, according to a news release from the marshals.

Jackson was convicted of second-degree robbery and was serving a 20-year sentence, the news release stated. He has over six years remaining to serve on his sentence. Jackson has close ties to the Prichard area and his last known residence was in the 4100 block of Vassar Circle in Mobile. He is a black, 6 feet 3 inches, 190 pounds, with short cropped hair and tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with any information about Jackson's whereabouts is asked to contact Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force Officer Lt. William Seals at 753-2870 or in an emergency 911.
